About

When you’re a singer/songwriter you’re supposed to have some fancy pants biography written about all of the impressive things you’ve done, and how “deep” your songs are, and how you’re somehow more quirky and unique than the other 5000 dudes singing their little hearts out. So naturally I asked one of my writer friends to knock one of those beauties out… however, I had a change of heart and figured that perhaps I should just tell you myself who I am, and why you should consider giving my music a second of your time. I’m only going to use bullet points to do so and each bullet can only be a maximum of 118 characters. So here we go…

  • I spent most of my formative years growing up in Delaware. Yes, that Delaware (of Wayne’s World, Joe Biden, and no sales tax fame).
  • My family is very musical. My dad plays keys better than your dad (…almost certainly), and my sister can SANG (you can hear her on my CD).
  • I started playing guitar in junior high (I wanted to impress girls. I failed. Mostly.)
  • By end of high school I was writing songs that weren’t offensively terrible & I started to think maybe I can do this.
  • I went to college at the University of Delaware (yes, the mascot really is a “Fightin’ Blue Hen”).
  • I grew a lot as a musician over my college years and began to be more serious about my craft (whatever that means).
  • In early 2008 I recorded an EP with the very talented Mike Odmark in Nashville, TN. I like it. I’m biased. Buy it?
  • I view my songs as a way to capture memories, stories, & emotions I’ve experienced. Or sometimes I just make stuff up.
  • Most times my songs are started & finished in 30 minutes. Sometimes it takes months. I like the 30 minute ones better.
  • I love experimenting with new ways to play acoustic guitar and I’m more than obsessed with the banjo I got last year.
  • I lived in Philadelphia until late 2009 when I relocated to Nashville, TN.
  • In 2007 one of my songs was chosen by Sufjan Stevens as part of the top 36 out of 650+ original Christmas songs.
  • In 2008 I won 2nd place out of 30 bands at the Beta Hi-Fi Festival at XPN’s World Café Live in Philadelphia. It was cool.
  • In 2010 I released a brand new album called The Philadelphia Session. We recorded 6 songs in 5 hours. It was crazy.
